Peretti

Elsa (1940). Jewelry designer. Famous for her perfectly anatomical Bone bracelet, and Diamond by the Yard, gold and diamond chains sold by the meter. She worked as a model in London and New York and studied interior design in Rome, then in 1969 she began making silver jewelry, which was displayed in a Bloomingdales boutique. The designers Halston and Sant’Angelo, whom she had modeled for in the past, asked her to collaborate on their runway shows. In 1974 she joined the team of designers working for Tiffany New York, producing decorative ornaments of formal simplicity, with a decidedly sculptural edge. She takes inspiration from nature to create her biomorphic jewelry made from silver, gold, precious stones, horn, ebony, and ivory. Her designs are now some of Tiffany’s biggest sellers.
