Paunovic

Dusan (1968). Serbian designer. He has been living in Milan for 15 years. After attending Belgrade’s Fine Arts Academy he enroled at the Istituto Marangoni. He worked for the Yugoslavian designer Zoran for six years. In 1999 he launched his own line of womenswear. He started out in a very small space in Via Agnello, then expanded into a house and atelier in Via Vincenzo Monti. He does not draw his creations, but models the fabric directly around the body, like the great couturiers. His favors reversible and hand-made fabrics, silks from Taron and Clerici, and cashmere from Loro Piana. He is an outsider: no publicity or PR, no shows or showroom. He does everything himself with the help of two assistants and three small workshops. He handles his sales directly and every season he takes his collection to the USA to sell it without the use of intermediaries. He has limited distribution, with a single exclusive shop in each city.
