Oldfield

Bruce (1950). English designer. He dressed Diana, Princess of Wales. After obtaining a diploma in teaching at Sheffield City Polytechnic, he studied fashion design at St. Martin’s School of Art. He began his career in fashion working in a Henri Bendel store in New York, which allowed him to hold his first fashion show in America as early as 1973. In 1975 he opened his own atelier in London, first with a ready-to-wear collection and then with couture. In 1984 he opened his own shop in London. His clientele includes several members of the Royal family and the aristocracy. His style pays constant homage to femininity: he is particularly admired for his slinky evening dresses, “directly draped over the body.”
