Montesinos Alama

Francis (1950). Spanish designer born in Valencia. She began her training at the Escuela de Artes y Oficios with a specialization in Interior Design, partly to convince her parents to transform the family firm into an interior architecture studio. Her artistic activity was strongly influenced by the world surrounding the Beatles and the birth of the Ibiza phenomenon. During the 1960s, she opened a shop in Valencia and in 1978 she presented her first prêt-à-porter collection on the runway in Barcelona. She took part in numerous specialized fairs in Spain and abroad. During the 1980s, she opened other own-brand boutiques across Spain and began to show in Madrid, with the inauguration of the Pasarela Cibeles. During the 1990s, she extended her production beyond prêt-à-porter to include jewelry, household linens, theatrical costumes, and even cars. Her fashion work continues alongside collaborations with the theater and performing world. At the end of the 1990s, she won the Nova Prize and presented collections on the runway at the Portuguese Expo, at Pasarela del Carmen in Valencia and even at the Picasset penitentiary centre.
&Quad;2000. She created the costumes for the world preview of Swan Lake, performed by the National Ballet of Cuba and for the prima ballerina Maria Jimenez, in the show Blanco y Negro. She designed the Summer 2002 swimwear line for Dolores Cortes, which was presented on the runway in Madrid.
&Quad;2003, April. She described her career, techniques, and tricks of the trade to the students on the spring course at the Università Internazionale Mendez Pelayo in Tenerife. The course, lasting a week, was titled “Creation and Artistic Imagination in Theatrical Design and Fashion”.
