Mondialpelli

Wholesale fur and fur clothing production firm, founded in Milan in 1955 by Alberto Ravizza, and Fernanda and Enzo Picciocchi. In the era of the classic fur coat, they created a different style based on a high quality, prêt-à-porter production. The firm developed out of family links, through the marriage of Alberto and Giovanna, the sister of Fernanda, and evolved rapidly due to the decision to produce and distribute the Pikenz collection wholesale. At the beginning of the 1970s, it began to export, above all to the United States, Japan and Germany, and for many years distributed the haute couture line Melegari and Costa. The second generation of the family entered the firm, with Umberto Picciocchi in 1972 and Roberto Ravizza in 1981, who were President and CEO respectively. They led a young team that each year made 140 garments for the Pikenz collection and 140 for Gianfranco Ferré. The contract with Ferré dates back to 1987 with an agreement that was launched with the haute couture designs for July in Rome. The first Gianfranco Ferré Fourrures collection in March 1988 revolutionised fur: natural, almost wild, with splits in front, behind and at the sides, right up to the back. At the end of 1997, the headquarters in Via Fieno were opened, a few streets away from their historic base in Piazza Diaz. A thousand square meters, equipped with software, digitizers, the most modern machinery and decorated in the most elegantly rational way (180 drawers of buttons were used in a single collection). The Pikenz and Gianfranco Ferré lines are created and displayed here. The Ferré line has changed its name from Fourrures to Furs.
