MARIELLA MILANI, PROFESSIONAL JOURNALIST SINCE 1976 

HER CAREER AT RAI

Mariella Milani worked at Rai for 33 years. She was among the first women to host the TG2, she was a special correspondent in news, editor-in-chief, author of reportages, daily and weekly columns such as “Diogene”, “Anni d’argento”, “L’alfabeto dei giovani” and a program titled “Stile” for Rete 2.

She was a newshound, she dealt with mafia and n’drangheta wars with the “Reggio case” and to protect the rights of citizens and minors, bringing to light phenomena such as pedophilia, petty crime and violence.

MARIELLA MILANI FASHION CRITIC

Since 1994 she has been a fashion critic, narrating – from New York, Paris, London, Milan, Florence and Rome – the fashion system from an economic, sociological and costume point of view in an ironic and cutting way.   

After Rai, she landed online. Milani uses social media as an interactive tool to open a dialogue with the protagonists of Made in Italy and to talk about the revolution taking place in the sector.

In March 2020, during the first lockdown she created “Un caffè con Mariella”, a direct fashion column on Instagram. 

On the 2nd of February 2021 Fashion Confidential came out, edited by Sperling & Kupfer. The book traces the details of her professional experience and focuses on her vision of the change that the fashion system is going through. Mariella Milani

In April of the same year Fashion Confidential also turned into a podcast, available on Spotify and all dedicated platforms, which started a new adventure in the world of podcasting.

She teaches writing and public speaking courses at the IED and at the 24ORE Business School.
