Loredana

Clothing company for little girls and teenagers from 1 to 16 years (medium-high segment). Established in 1956 in Putignano, near Bari, it has become an important point of reference in the children’s clothing sector. The acknowledged prestige and success of its collections come from a long family tradition in the field of children’s manufacturing. Since Angela and Giovanni Leogrande opened their first small workshop, they have always placed great attention on details, the quality of the fabrics, and the various clothing lines. At present the company, named after the couple’s daughter, continues to be guided by the family, though it uses a team of internal and external collaborators. The company’s philosophy is to manufacture everything with the greatest care: from creation and production to delivery, from the relationship with suppliers to that with clients and consumers. After World War II, the number of customers grew slowly, and also the interest and will of the family to create fashion for young people. In 1953 the number of workers had grown to 5 and the business was run in two small rooms; in 1965 the company started distributing across Italy through a personal distribution network. The birth of the line Dolci Tentazioni dates back to 1970 (target: 1-7 years) and to 1977 the arrival in the company of Loredana, the founders’ daughter, as a young designer. The Marina line for babies made its debut in 1980, and in 1990 the company participated for the first time at Pitti Immagine Bimbo. In 1996 an agreement with the American company C&C allowed Loredana to export to the USA. From 1997 to 2002 the company diversified its products, creating new lines: in 1997 the Le bellissime di Loredana line of formal clothing appeared; in 1998 it was the turn of Loredana le bimbe, for children from 1 to 8 years, and Loredana le scarpe. Finally, in 2002, the LEJ line was created for girls from 8 to 16. The company has thus built a complete product portfolio for girls from birth to adolescence. Each line has its own character, colors, and design. What they have in common is taste, their image, and the high quality of the fabrics and manufacturing. The products are made in about 20 external workshops in Putignano. The company has 35 workers. The Loredana Store in Xiamen, China was opened in 2004.
