LEITMOTIV BETWEEN GOTHIC AND BAROQUE

LeitMotivStilist LeitMotiv

The LeitMotiv brand was born in 2008 from the creative complicity of Juan Caro and Fabio Sasso, a harmony of artistic research and sartorial craftsmanship.

In their work, fashion draws inspiration from art that becomes portable. This ambivalence is expressed through the search for materials, prints and patterns. The atmosphere of their creations is on the border between Fabio’s baroque and decorative taste and Juan’s gothic plot. They draw inspiration from complex, fairy-tale and surreal imaginaries, which they transform into visual suggestions through prints and accessories. The two designers also use different fabrics, which have become a symbol of the brand, including jacquard lamé, fil coupé, matelassé and printed sablé satin.

The Leitmotiv collections express continuity between craftsmanship and fashion, between the forms of masculine and feminine, between elements of the past and present.

In 2008, the Milan Chamber of Fashion awarded them the Fashion Incubator Contest award, presented to them by Franca Sozzani in person. In 2009 they won the YOOX SPA special prize for the most innovative collections, on the occasion of “Who’s Next? Woman”; while in 2017, at the TAO AWARDS event, the brand won the jury’s prize.
