Lanital

Proteinic fiber obtained from casein, the protein in milk, which was discovered in 1935. It was the year of the sanctions imposed by the Fascist autarchy which encouraged Italy to be self-sufficient. Manufactured by Snia Viscosa in 1937, it partially replaced wool, achieving a total output of 1,200 tons. Independent research by American Atlantic Research Associates Inc. concluded that the ideal formula was that of Arlac: in 1943 Snia Viscosa produced more than 5,000 tons. The formula repeats the molecular structure of wool with convincing results in terms of warmth and softness. It is resistant to moths.
