Gustav (1862-1918). Artist, among the founders of the Vienna Secession. Interested in industrial design, he created a practical, modern fashion, simplifying the lines of clothes, preferring straight cuts, and focusing on bag dresses softened by sophisticated details typical of the Secession’s taste. The tailor’s workshop of his friend Flöge manufactured his jackets and clothing for homewear, distribution of which was limited to his friends. In 1911, at the International Exposition in Rome, the Parisian designer Poiret was particularly struck by the artist’s creations, and henceforth involved many artists in fabric design.
