Julian

Alexander (1948). American designer. Born in Chapel Hill, in North Carolina. He started to work in his father’s menswear store while still very young. “My father”, he loves to remember, “taught me to take care of business as well as of aesthetics.” In 1975 he moved to New York. Two years later, at the age of 29, he won the first of five Coty Awards in the category of Outstanding Menswear, which were to mark his career. Few years later, he became the youngest designer to be welcomed into the Coty Fashion Hall of Fame. His brand produced accessories, eyewear, bags, jeans, and shoes, but Julian has also created a line of interior décor articles. During his career, the designer also invented the car colors and uniforms of Paul Newman’s Indianapolis racing team. The NBA team Charlotte Hornets also entrusted Julian with the restyling of their uniforms.
