J. ARLINGTON VALLES (1885-1970): HOLLYWOOD COSTUME DESIGNER

J. Arlington Valles is the only Hollywood costume designer to have dressed exclusively male stars. He received an Oscar in 1960 for the costumes of Stanley Kubrick’s Spartacus. He particularly cared for Mgm actors such as Fred Astaire (Ti amavo senza sapere, ’48) and William Powell. His period costumes for The Portrait of Dorian Gray (1945), Madame Bovary (1949 version) and The Forsyte Saga (1949) with Errol Flynn were highly appreciated.
