Filatura di Grignasco

Spinning mill established toward the end of the 1800s on the initiative of some weaving mills in Valsessera. After rapidly becoming known in the field of spun yarn for fabrics, the firm has more and more specialized in the manufacture of yarns for underwear, a field in which it is now a world leader. The acquisition, about fifteen years ago, of the spinning mill in Gavardo, in the area of Brescia, allowed the firm to enter the field of yarns for knit outerwear, which today represents 50% of the Group’s production. Today, the company has two plants, one in Grignasco (Novara) and one in Bostone (Brescia), that operate with very advanced technology — it was the first spinning mill to obtain an ISO quality certification — and it employs about 950 people. In the late 1990s the turnover was around 170 billion liras, of which 40% came from abroad.
