Erwitt

Eliott (1928). American photographer, born in Paris of Russian descent. His given name is Elio Romano Erwitz. When he was two years old, the family moved to Milan. Ten years later, it moved to Los Angeles, where he would work in a photo lab and later open his own studio. At that time, he specialized in portraits. He moved to New York and came in contact with Robert Capa and the world of commercial photography. In 1953 Capa helped him join the Magnum photo agency, of which he would become president in 1969. An eclectic artist, able to go from portraiture to reportage without losing his sense of humor or ironic tone, Erwitt worked in fashion and advertising from time to time, providing photos for companies in the field.
