ERNESTO ESPOSITO, STYLIST OF CONTRASTS AND UNUSUAL COMBINATIONS

Ernesto Esposito
Luisa Via Roma and Ernesto Esposito Limited Edition

Ernesto Esposito. He was born in Naples where he lives and works. He abandoned his studies to pursue his passion for fashion, in particular for shoes, and to work for Russo di Casandrino, a tannery with a great tradition. His style is the antithesis of minimalism. His creative process starts from the search for new contrasts and the unusual combination of precious materials, with an almost maniacal attention to the smallest detail.

Ernesto Esposito continued with the most important shoe manufacturer in the world, Sergio Rossi. They worked together hand in hand for more than 15 years. In the 1980s Ernesto joined the team of the young Marc Jacobs where he collaborated for almost ten years. They follow some of the most popular maisons such as Chloe, Sonia Rykiel, Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Missoni and Geox, where Ernesto had the possibility to show his ideas and his talent in the world of fashion.

GREAT COLLECTOR OF ART WORKS

It would be simplistic to define Ernesto Esposito as an enthusiastic and aware collector of his means: he is in fact a researcher, who collaborates and works in close contact with the most influential galleries in the sector. Not only. Frequenting artists such as Cy Twombly, Joseph Beuys, Andy Warhol and Helmut Newton allowed him, on the one hand, to get to know the cultural and social mechanisms involved in the creation of the artist; on the other hand, to influence artists, sharing his tireless ability to analyze the world with them.
This “double movement” is reflected in the very conformation of the exhibition which, in fact, is divided into two distinct sections: Some people and Brasil!.

ME TWO

The title of the overall exhibition, ME TWO, is also the assonance of the famous slogan/hashtag “me too”. Which marked a turning point against female stalking due to the scandal of the Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein. He was accused of sexual harassment against women actresses he worked with. The double value of the title of the exhibition, therefore, turns its gaze both to the immanence of art and to the exchange of ideas between the patron and the artist. Both to current events and to the events of reality.
