Perry (1940). American designer. After a long apprenticeship with two manufacturing firms, John Meyer of Norwick and Manhattan Industries, he designed a leather line in 1975 and went out on his own in 1978. He has remained successful thanks to his ability to revisit traditional styles and keep them youthful.
The third millennium begins in the best possible way, with excellent results for the first six months of 2000. Combined revenues are $150 million, an increase of 31.8% compared to the same period in 1999. Profits go from $4.5 million to $5.4 million.
Agreement with CBD International for the distribution of activewear in Europe. A joint venture with Grand National Apparel for the Canadian market is considered.
The designer receives the prestigious Coty Fashion Award for women’s clothing. He is also recognized by the Council of Fashion Designers of America, of which he was the first president, for his men’s wear.
He establishes an award in his name which is to be given each year to promising young talents in men’s wear, women’s wear, and accessories.
