Dean

James (1931-1955). American actor. A myth for an entire generation, he established, in the wake of Marlon Brando, a style of informal clothing made up of jeans, T-“shirt, and jacket. His career was very short and he became a celebrity with just three films, all shot in 1955, the year in which he lost his life in a car accident. He was discovered on Broadway by Elia Kazan while performing in a stage adaptation of The Immoralist by André Gide. Shortly after, the director chose him for the main character in his movie East of Eden (1955), in the role of a sensitive and tormented teenager. Immediately after, came the film that would create the myth: Rebel Without A Cause (1955). Finally, with The Giant (1955), presented in theaters after his tragic death, came the confirmation of his undisputed cult status.
