D’Avenza

Manufacturer of men’s wear. Its name comes from the village near Carrara where the company was established in 1957 by the Ackermann family, which had behind it a long tradition of tailoring and of ateliers in New York. In 1994, it was acquired by the Cecchi family from Prato, a textile dynasty that owned the firm Rifinizioni Santo Stefano. The business is directed by Catia Cruciani who, supported by the master cutter Ralph Anania, manufactures clothes that are well tailored and have a strong fashion content. Every garment requires 268 manufacturing steps and 70% of these are done by hand. Every buttonhole is hand-finished with about 70 double-knot stitches. There are 15 steps just to make a collar. Besides Italy, the product sells well in Japan and the U.S.
