Consiglio

Maria Consiglio (1923) was a prêt-à-porter and high fashion dressmaker. She opened the atelier Fashion in Naples in 1945. In 1949, she designed the costumes for an Aida directed by Roberto Rossellini at the Arena Flegrea in Pozzuoli and after that alternated dressmaking with costume design, working on some 30 productions of opera and ballet at the Teatro San Carlo. Maria Consiglio worked with Eduardo De Filippo on plays performed at the San Ferdinando in Naples and for those taken on tour. She retired in 1981 when her atelier was declared uninhabitable after the earthquake in Irpinia.
