Casual

A term that when used about clothing indicates an informal, practical, self-assured way of dressing, identified with jeans and comfortable garments, mostly for leisure. Typical of the American style of dressing, it was successful in Europe during the 1970s and 1980s, first among young people, and then with a wider and wider public, incorporating into the style various trends coming mostly from the U.S., such as grunge. It includes sportswear, of course, but not in the sense of clothing or outfits in which to practice the sport actively, which instead requires particular fabrics and precise manufacturing. Casual wear doesn’t follow any stylistic rules in terms of fabrics, shapes, or colors.
