Canfora

Workshop in Capri that produces artisan-made loafers and sandals. Famous for its very soft leather, the Canfora family was the first to decorate and embellish its creations with inlays and ornaments made of glass and metal. Their history begins at the end of the 1800s, with a first shop on via Fuorlovado. Between the late 1940s and early 1950s, Amedeo Canfora moved the business to its present location: in a boutique not far from the Quisiana hotel on via Camerelle. Leather thongs were already very successful in this period, but their boom occurred in the 1960s and 1970s. Among its clientele have been Jacqueline Onassis, Soraya, Maria Callas, Dawn Addams, Grace Kelly, and Dado Ruspoli.
