Canette D’Or

An award given by the Belgian Textile and Manufacturing Institute. It goes to the best Collection designed in Belgium and manufactured with Belgian materials. The first to receive the award, in 1982, was the designer Anne Demeulermeester, only one year after graduating from the Royal Academy in Antwerp. Another of the entrants was Dries Van Noten, a student at the time, who by 1985 would win the award twice. In the three years that followed, Walter Van Beirendock was always among the top ten finalists. In 1989, the winner was Veronique Le Roy.
