Canepa Tessitura Serica

Italian company which, from its Como headquarters, is active mainly with silk, and to a lesser extent with linen, cotton, viscose, acetate, and nylon. It was established in 1966 by Giovanni Canepa. In 1972, his children Silvia, Francesca, Elisabetta, Michele, and Giovanna joined the business. It produces fabric for clothing such as ties and scarves, and for furniture. In 1993, it acquired Intermoda (silk ties and scarves), which employed 10 workers and had a turnover of 9 billion liras. In 1998 the Group produced 400,000 ties and 4.12 million yards of fabric, with a turnover of 113 billion liras and a working staff of 357 employees. Since that year, the company has been guided by the founder’s daughters.
