Baudrillard

Jean Baudrillard (1929) was a french sociologist and writer, born in Reims. He became interested in fashion while studying the production and consumption patterns of modern society. His books include Les systems des objets (1968), La Societé de consommation (1970), and De la seduction (1979). His opinions are strongly critical. Fashion, like the market, is one of the culprits responsible for a decline in societal values, and for their destruction. This is a change allowed by the system so that, in substance, there is no real change. Fashion doesn’t move forward, but continues to put forward again what has already been done, it turns on itself, applies modern make-up to what has already been seen.
