Balloon

Ballon was a brand of prêt-à-porter fashion. It was created in 1976 by the brother-and-sister Roberto and Gabriella Greco. It was their idea to use artisan-quality yarns made in the Far East — such as silk, cotton and cashmere — to create clothes designed by them. Their line is based on the “total look.” Since 1994 the Rome-based company has used the franchise system for its distribution, with 65 points-of-sale in Italy, 2 in Madrid and 1 in London (Covent Garden). The Balloon brand, aimed at the middle market, was soon supported by the Blunauta line, meant for a more demanding clientele. Starting in 2001 Blunauta became the firm’s only brand, with Balloon remaining as the name of the company.
