Argyle

A pattern named after a Scottish clan and a geographic area in western Scotland. It is a classic lozenge motif, obtained by inlay or jacquard, typical of Scottish knee socks and sweaters. It is used especially in knitwear for pullovers, cardigans and scarves, and for socks and tights in wool and nylon. It has been back in fashion since 2000. Vivienne Westwood has used it for tights as a contrast under her tartan skirts.”
