ANTONIO MANCINELLI, FASHION JOURNALIST

Antonio Mancinelli is an Italian fashion journalist, Senior Editor of Marie Claire Italy and visiting professor at many Italian and international fashion schools.

Antonio Mancinelli is one of the most authoritative voices in the fashion world, able to tell it with a realistic, objective gaze, and with cutting irony, his trademark. He met some of the most important personalities in the fashion world, including Valentino, Gianfranco Ferré and Versace, commenting on the collections and gradually establishing himself as a leading figure in the international journalistic panorama.

ANTONIO MANCINELLI, THE BEGINNING

Talking about himself to Secondo Me, Mancinelli claimed he still remembers his first article for Corriere della Sera, and the embarrassment he felt at the entrance when the bodyguard squared him and pointed out that he was not Ms Mancinelli and therefore he could not enter. Only after the press office confirmed his identity, the young journalist managed to pass.

For a long time Mancinelli was the only man in a job considered only for women. In the end, as recalled by the journalist, these “Ladies of fashion” welcomed him and adopted him, teaching him a lot.

After a brilliant piece on Gianfranco Ferré’s fashion show, his own communication team contacted him on behalf of the designer, very curious to understand who was hiding behind that original article. This is how Mancinelli interviewed Ferré for the first time.
