Aliverti and Stecchini

Silk factory near Como. It was established in 1921 by Luigi Aliverti and Giovanni Stecchini. In the beginning, manufacturing was at the Bregnano plant, near Como, which was already operating by 1920. Then it expanded with the opening of the weaving mill at Guanzate in 1924. In 1946, with the departure of Luigi Aliverti, the company changed its name to Tessitura Serica Gianni Stecchini e Figli, the figli (sons) being Pier Luigi and Mario. At the death of Giovanni Stecchini in 1950, Pericle Bari was appointed president. In the early 1950s, the factory was close to being shut down, even though production continued until 1956, when liquidation became effective.
