Pontoglio

Italian company specialized in the manufacture of velvet fabrics. The business started out in Milan in 1883 as Sacconaghi & C., and changed to Manufattura Pontolgio in 1992. Over these hundred or so years the company structure has changed, from being run by a single family to becoming a holding company. In the 1960s, when Pontoglio had 500 employees, it was acquired by Snia Bpd. Despite the disruption, an effort was made to maintain the high-quality standards of its products. Pontoglio’s fabrics are also used for car upholstery. At the beginning of the 1980s the company turnover was around 6 billion lire. In 1985 Pontoglio finally joined the Pecci Group. Widespread restructuring and technological innovation along with the positive trend for velvet in recent years have led to an increased turnover of about 22 million euros and an annual production of 2.5 million meters of fabric, which is destined for mid to high-level domestic and export men’s and women’s markets.
