Vallhonrat

Javier (1953). He studied at the School of Fine Arts in Madrid and, though he continued to work as a painter, he began to work as a photographer, moving into the fashion business in 1978. A complex and fascinating artist, he named as his masters Hoyningen-Huene, Irving Penn and Richard Avedon, but of those masters he focused more on the taboo-shattering aspects than the classical style elements. Beginning in 1980 he worked with numerous fashion personalities, with a certain preference for the Italian Aldo Coppola and young talents like the Spanish designer Sybilla. He published in Vogue, Lei, and Vanity Fair. Alongside his commercial work, he did personal experimentation that blended painting and photography, designing space with clear references to surrealism, exalting chromatisms and placing the female figure at the center of his interest.
