David (1953). English milliner. He has reintroduced girls to hats, with his over-the-top style that is often in tune with club fashion. At the age of 12, he used to make his mother hats to wear to Ascot. On behalf of the United Nations, he has undertaken to revive traditional craftsmanship from Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
&Quad;He joined the advisory board of the Royal Academy School. Recently, he has applied his creativity to the services of institutions who deal with humanitarian problems, creating logos for them. Most recently, he has been working with metal to create flexible and delicate steel sculptures reminiscent of his famous hats.
&Quad;2003, July. He was commissioned to make an installation for Henley Festival of Music and Arts, which comprises two layers of steel which stretch for 60m along the banks of the River Thames.
