Samsonite

American world leader in the production of luggage items. The Italian division is run by the chairman and managing director Beppi Fremder. In May 1997, the Italian division bought Valextra from the French Andrelux (the Vuitton family). In association with Linea Più of Prato, it launched the Active Wear line of clothing.
&Quad;2000. Samsonite Black Label, a new range of women’s clothing, was launched. Structured and almost tailored, the line looks modern and technically comfortable. The style is essential, with no sense of excess. It was designed by 35-year-old Gigi Vezzola, who trained at the Marangoni Institute and learned from Krizia and Dolce & Gabbana.
&Quad;2000. The designer Philippe Starck created a range of very light bags and suitcases in grays and browns.
&Quad;2005. Quenint Mackay, previously accessories designer at Loewe, was made Samsonite’s creative director.
