Roveda, Wanda

Wanda Roveda, the only wedding dress designer to have exhibited at the Guggenheim Museum in New York

Wanda Roveda is the only wedding dress designer to have seen one of her designs exhibited (1996) at the Guggenheim Museum in New York. A tireless creator of wedding and other collections, she began her long career in the 1940s, deciding to turn a simple hobby into a profession. In 1962, at the urging of Bista Giorgini, she presented a collection of mothers and daughters in the Sala Bianca in Florence. The designer and her Rovedine, as Irene Brin christened them, became loved and famous.
