Titina Rota (1898-1978) Italian Costume Designer

Titina Rota (1898-1978) was an Italian costume designer. During the Second World War she edited the weekly magazine Grazia. Born in Milan, she came from a family of musicians. Nino Rota, who won an Oscar for the soundtrack to The Godfather, was her cousin. In the theatre, he worked for, among others, Guido Salvini (La Locandiera), Max Reinhardt (A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Merchant of Venice) and Renato Simoni. After the war, he retired to Capri, devoting himself to painting.
