An English word used to describe an American lifestyle and way of dressing. Preppy teenagers are very neat, and wear sensible fabrics and knitwear in a few well-matched colors. This manner of dressing ended up influencing their lifestyle. The look has not changed since it was typical of Ivy League students at the end of the 1970s. For men: corduroy pants, tweed jackets, Shetland sweaters in Winter, or madras pants and shirts and Indian cloth jackets in the Summer. For women: white blouses, tartan skirts and kilts, tweed dresses and blazers.
