Pellini

Emma (1900-1966). Costume jewelry designer. She started in Milan in 1947 producing Venetian glass jewelry for French and Italian haute couture. In 1951 she took part in the Italian fashion showcase organized by Bista Giorgini. From then on, the American market took great interest in her creations. In 1952 she took part at the New York Fair of Italian Manufacturers. Her first Milanese boutique opened in 1962, following the initiative of her daughter Carla (1925). In 1972 the founder’s grandchildren Donatella and Ernesto joined the company, dealing respectively with the creative and administrative sides of the business. Donatella Pellini has been responsible for the most lively phase in the company’s history, collaborating with young ready-to-wear labels like Mugler, Lacroix, Gigli, and Fendi. These days they produce ethnic, very individual styles using glass and resin, with the addition of natural materials like herbs, flowers, and mineral powders. Pellini jewelry is distributed throughout the world, and is particularly popular in Japan.
&Quad;In the last few years Donatella’s work has been celebrated in exhibitions of her designs and sketches at the Milan Triennale and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
&Quad;Since 2000, Pellini has started producing bags, belts, and hats as well as costume jewelry. A boutique has been opened in Rue Jacob, Paris.
