Orlane

French cosmetics house founded by Guillame D’Ornano in 1947. After starting off in perfumery, D’Ornano sensed a growing interest in beauty treatments and between 1948 and 1950 he launched the very first products containing active ingredients (Crème Astrale, Crème à l’Orange, Crème Active), introducing a new concept: that our skin needs both a day and a night cream on a daily basis. At the same time Orlane used revolutionary advertising methods, showing the internal structure of our skin for the first time. Orlane’s successful products, which are the result of scientific research and discoveries, include: Crème a la Gelèe Royale, Extrait Vital, Hydro-Climat, and B21 Bio-Energic. In 1970 Orlane was bought by Morton Norwich, then became part of Max Factor (while the founder’s descendent Hubert D’Ornano created the Sisley cosmetics brand), and was finally acquired by the Italian Kelemata group in 1985. For the last few years the make-up artist Romualdo Priore has been artistic director of the cosmetics division.
