New York Industrie
New York Industrie, Italian brand of ready-made clothing for men and women. The company, was launched in 1977 in Noventa Vicentina in the province of Vicenza and became part of Staff International in 1984. It has a continuous presence at the runway shows in Milan, Paris, and New York. It uses various textiles, natural and technological. The garments are distributed all over the world and can be found in Italy in own-brand stores (Reggio Emilia, Modena, Riccione, and Rome). The Beirut pants are one of the company’s most famous creations: a male design updated for women, fitted at the bottom with small splits at the sides. Staff International also produces and distributes Bella Freud, G-Y’m and other brands, on a contract license basis. The group has given industrial support to the innovative creations of Martin Margiela and Vivienne Westwood. Kostas Murkudis is the artistic director of the house.
Helped by designers of international repute, the German designer of Greek origin has transformed the direction of the company, starting with the Fall-Winter 2001 collection. Shapes, cuts and textile treatments have undergone a restyling to direct the product towards a younger market.
&Quad;2002, March. The company opened an own-brand store in Paris in the Marais district, and the department store Lafayette began to stock New York Industrie.
&Quad;2003, Spring. Staff International sold the license for New York Industrie to McAdams, another firm from the Vicenza region. Since the Spring-Summer 2004 collection, McAdams has controlled the design, production, and distribution of the brand.
