Museu Tèxtil i d’Indumentaria. The Museum of Textiles and Fashion came into being only in 1982 when various collections were brought together. It is housed since 1969 in the old palace of the Marquis of Llio, which now belongs to the city. The collection was established in 1883 by the council, but the first museum was not founded until 1964. Successive donations and important acquisitions enlarged the collections of Museu Tèxtil i d’Indumentària.

The textile section is very broad, with examples from the 4th to 20th centuries. Among the oldest articles are Coptic tunics from the 7th and 9th centuries, holy vestments from the 15th and 16th centuries, and thirteenth-century Hispano-Moorish tapestries. Various types of embroidery and lace are well represented, as well as the materials used in their production. A fundamental part of the twentieth-century fashion collection is the Balenciaga gift, which includes examples of the designer’s work before he went to Paris&b;. These, as well as other outfits by Spanish designers, document Spanish and Catalan styles. Recently the museum has bought clothes by Spanish prêt-à-porter labels such as Sybilla, and international labels including Ungaro and Alaïa.
