Murphy&Nye

American fashion company producing sportswear and casual wear. Founded in 1933 in Chicago as producers of sails for yachts, launches, and ice-breakers. The sails proved to be winners in the MacKinac Race regatta and the Star world championships in 1936. This success allowed the company to extend production to include crew uniforms and Newport pants, the latter named by the company’s founders, Jim Murphy and Harry Nye, in honor of the America’s Cup, which was held in Newport, Rhode Island. Since 1992 the brand has been part of the company Sixty, and produces four prêt-à-porter ranges, popular with sailors, skiers, snowboarders, and lovers of casual dress in general.
