Keita Maruyama is a Japanese designer born in 1965, who began as a costume designer for the theater and cinema. She presented her first collection in Tokyo, appearing on the international stage in Paris in 1997. Her collections, sought after for their elegance and femininity, reflect some of the characteristics of the typical Japanese woman and are enriched with rigorously hand-crafted embroideries on knitwear. In order to popularize the use of traditional clothing among the young, in Fall 1999 she designed a collection of kimonos.
