Martine Sitbon (1952), french designer
British music of the 60s and 70s has always been the perfect background to the fashion shows of her collections.Born in Casablanca, Martine Sitbon arrived in Paris at the age of 10. She made a name for herself with her masculine-feminine style, made up of rigor, fluidity, perfect cuts. As a graduate of Studio Berµot, her professional collaborations have been numerous for American, Asian, Italian and French companies of women’s prêt-à-porter: among these, the long understanding with the Maison Chloé for the whom he has designed 9 collections since 1988.
His namesake label, launched in 1986, has found valid support in the artistic direction of Marc Ascoli (her husband) and in the images of valuable photographers such as Vallhonrat and Knight. In 2004 the brand presented its last fashion show, and due to financial difficulties Martine was forced to close her brand.
In 2006 Martine Sitbon launched, with the support of Jimmy KW Chan, the Rue du Mail brand. Based in Paris, the brand presented its collections until 2013. In 2016, Martine recounted her life and career in the monograph An Alternative Vision.
