Manifatture Associate Cachemire

A leader in the production of cashmere knitwear, the group was founded in 1972 on the initiative of Giacomo and Alfredo Canessa. Between the 1970s and 1980s, it gained ground with the Malo brand, opening factories in Campi Bisenzio (Florence) and Borgonovo Val Tidone (Piacenza), followed by another in Genoa. From 1993 onwards it opened sales outlets across Europe and the United States. It produces 500,000 garments a year and had a turnover of 61 million dollars in 1998.
&Quad;1999. Mac-Malo joined the It Holding group, bringing with it the Florence and Piacenza factories and its 26 own-brand stores.
&Quad;2002, Fall. The owner of the company, Alfredo Canessa, was made president of Ballantyne, the top brand of Dawson International, a leading company in the creation of cashmere clothing.
&Quad;2003, May. Malo eyewear by Allison is founded, a line of sun and eye glasses with gilt interior fittings. A preview of Allison’s collection was held at Mido in Milan. It joined the existing lines of clothing, accessories, and interior design objects.
&Quad;2003, June. The stylist Gianni Bugli joined the creative team at Malo. Bugli, who previously collaborated with Lacroix, Kenzo, and Versace, took over the knitwear range.
