Luigi & Iango: You don’t change a winning team
Luigi & Iango is a fashion photographers’ duo that is very appreciated in the fashion system. Indeed, nowadays they are among the most requested photographers by fashion houses, for their advertising campaigns, and celebrities, in Italy too.
In May 2022, Luigi & Iango were really liked, especially in Italy, because of their work with singers Mahmood and Blanco, winners of Festival di Sanremo 2022, who made iconic the February 2022 Vanity Fair cover.
Biography
Their complete names are Luigi Murenu and Iango Henzi. Murenu is Sardinian and he was born in 1964, while Henzi was born in Switzerland in 1979: the first worked as a hairstylist, while the second was a classical dancer.
Their ways, which were so different but joined by their passion for aesthetics and art, crossed in 2010: three years later their partnership began. In 2013, indeed, they began realizing a series of memorable shoots. They realized more than 250 covers for Vogue and for other magazines, such as Harper’s Bazaar and Vanity Fair.
Works
In spite of their relatively recent debut, they already shot famous top models, such as Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Kate Moss, Gisele Bündchen, and Helena Christensen.
Furthermore, they worked with iconic celebrities, such as Madonna, Rihanna, and Dua Lipa, and actresses as well, such as Jennifer Lawrence, Penelope Cruz, Julianne Moore, and Jennifer Lopez. So, Luigi & Iango have prestigious clients and are beloved by fashion houses such as Chanel, Dior, Burberry, Versace, Givenchy, Tom Ford, Lancôme, Cartier, and Swarovski.
Couturissime
In 2019, the works by Luigi & Iango were included in the Thierry Mugler retrospective exhibition Couturissime, which consisted in a strict partnership between the photographers, the work by the iconic fashion designer, dead at the beginning of 2022, and their muse Gisele Bündchen.
The exhibition was opened in Canada, in Montreal, but it also had popular stages in Kunsthalle Rotterdam (2020), Kunsthalle München, Musée des Arts décoratifs in Paris (2021), and Brooklyn Museum in New York (2022 – 2023).
In 2018, Luigi & Iango partnered with AmfAR: they contributed 1 million dollars with their portraits of Madonna and Gisele.
Latest Activities
In May 2022, they organized a three-day exhibition in Turin, helped by their friend and singer Mahmood: the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo exhibited the shooting realized with the two Italian singers.
Luigi & Iango present their first photography exhibition Unveiled in 2023.
