London College of Fashion

Originally named the Barrett Street Trade School (Technical School of Dressmaking), it was established in 1915. It changed to become the LCF after the war and, between 1952 and 1972, was the only state school entirely dedicated to fashion. It has always manifested a practical rather an artistic approach, educating the technicians of fashion, such as model-makers and cutters. It is divided into two sections: the School of Fashion Design and Technology, which offers courses of 2, 3 or 4 years in stylism, model making, fabrics, knitwear, embroidery, and millinery; and the School of Fashion Promotion, with courses of journalism and fashion management. It has more than 1,000 students.
