Lenci

Light and compact cloth in various colors. It takes its name from Helenchen Konig-Scavini (1886-1974), nicknamed Lenci, the founder of the company that first manufactured it in Turin in 1919. With this particular fabric, which was perfected by her brother Bubine using the felt of Borsalino hats, she manufactured the famous dolls designed by the artists of that time: Riva, Chessa, Sturani, Quaglino, and Dudovich. Under the direction of Pilade Garella at the end of the 1920s, Lenci experienced international success. The company started to produce flowers and bouquets and, later, ceramic sculptures created by artists like Tosalli, Grande, and Vacchetti. They were exhibited during the 1930 Triennale at Monza. Today the factory is run by the Garel family.
