Dorian (1920). American model. She associated with the jet set and represented an ideal of style that harmonized with the New Look during the 1940s-50s. The muse of Richard Avedon and Irving Penn, her real name is Elizabeth Parker. Her sister Susy was also a very famous model. Brought up in a strict and very well-off family, Elizabeth did not try her fortune in Hollywood, notwithstanding Diana Vreeland’s insistence, but inspired Truman Capote to write Breakfast at Tiffany’s. In the 1960s she opened a modeling agency.
