Jack (1939). French socialist politician. He has always believed in the importance of fashion as an art in itself. He was responsible for the setting of shows in the Carré du Louvre. He was Minister of Culture during the Mitterand presidency and, in the late 1990s Jospin appointed him Minister of National Education. Eccentric and extravagant, in 1984 he shocked the National Assembly by wearing a Mandarin neck suit created by Thierry Mugler.
