Lancôme
Armand Petitjean

Lancôme is French cosmetics company founded in 1935 by Armand Petitjean. Perfumes, make-up, and treatment lines have always been the basis of LancÂme’s product ranges. The company very quickly reached international status.

Armand Petitjean launched his brand with a perfume product line, addressed to five different type of women, from five different continents. The perfume line was unveiled at the Universal Exposition of Bruxelles.

Having gained an international reputation, in 1938 the brand launched its make-up line. One of the most iconic make-up products is The French Rose, a pink lipstick, with the scent of rose.

L’École Lancôme and the Brand Ambassadors

In the 40s Armand Petitjean decided to open the École Lancôme, aimed to create the brand culture and to train some women about the history of the brand, in order to create the very first Brand Ambassadors.

Always ahead in the research and creation of successful fragrances, the brand went through a difficult period around 1960, which finished with the selling of the company to L’Oréal.

After conquering the American and Asiatic markets, the new Lancôme restyled its image, betting on testimonials that embodied an accessible beauty, removed from any stereotype. Famous faces representing the company have been those of Isabella Rossellini (for ten years), now those of Juliette Binoche (for the perfume Poème), Inès Sastre (for the perfume Trésor), and Cristiana Reali for make-up and treatments.
