Kendall Jenner, the model’s story

Kendall Nicole Jenner, known to most as Kendall Jenner, is an American supermodel, who grew up in the spotlight of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, a reality TV show that followed the life of her family.


Born on the 3rd of November 1995 to Bruce Jenner (now Caitlyn Jenner) and Kriss Jenner, Kendall has a sister, Kylie Jenner (with whom she founded the Kendall + Kyle brand), and eight among half-brothers and half-sisters. The most famous one is Kim Kardashian. Raised in the Calabasas suburb of Los Angeles, she first attended the Sierra Canyon School and then continued her school career from home. Her career in the fashion world began early, when at the age of fourteen she posed for the Forever 21 campaign.

The Kendall Jenner’s success

The first cover is from 2010 on the American magazine Cheerleader and then in the same year Kendall appeared on Teen Vogue.  She signed with The Society Management agency and thus arrived on the catwalks. The first big breakthrough was when Katie Grand chose her for the Fall Winter 2014 fashion show by Marc Jacobs. In the same year she was the protagonist, at the behest of Riccardo Tisci of the advertising campaign of Givenchy. From then on, all the big brands noticed her refined beauty. Magazines chose her for their covers, from Harper’s Bazaar to Vogue. The greats of fashion called her for their fashion shows, among many others Chanel, Fendi, Balmain, Bottega Veneta and Dolce Gabbana, as a testimonial (she was the face of Calvin Klein , Estée Lauder and  La Perla).

Success arrived quickly. In 2015 she participated in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. She made her debut in the Forbes list of the highest paid models in the world, reaching the sixteenth position. Two years later, in 2017, she officially was the highest paid model in the world. Earning $ 22 million a year, ousting Gisele Bündchen, at the top of the rankings since 2002. While in 2019, with 150 million followers, she was the twelfth most followed person on Instagram (in 2021 her followers were 184 million).

In addition to fashion, in 2021, Kendall arrived in the beverage business. Notably, with her new brand of Tequila 818, which takes its name from the prefix of her home in Calabasas.

The controversies: the Pepsi commercial and the problems with Liu Jo

In 2017 Kendall Jenner was chosen as the protagonist of the new Pepsi commercial. In the commercial the young model was offering a drink to an agent, to prevent the tension during a demonstration. The American giant, and Kendall herself, were accused of exploiting social justice movements for commercial purposes. Pepsi later withdrew the ad and Kendall was overwhelmed with criticism.

Moreover, in 2021 Liu Jo requested 1.8 million dollars in compensation from the American model for breach of contract, accusing Kendall of not having completed the commitments envisaged for the 2020 collections. The model’s lawyers responded, accusing the Italian brand of not wanting to find an agreement that would allow the campaigns to be carried out during the pandemic.
